Story Bus

Konectbus visited Norwich Primary Academy in Earlham to deliver a series of fun, educational sessions as part of its Generation Go programme.

Held on 22nd May, the events were tailored for Reception and Year 6 students, supporting their learning and development as they prepare for the next stages of their educational journey.

In a vibrant and inspiring day, the Konectbus team delivered three Generation Go sessions, each designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and introduce students to the world of public transport and travel safety.

Story Bus

The day began with the magical Story Bus experience. Reception children, aged 4–5, were welcomed aboard by Driver Adam, who handed out tickets before they climbed to the top deck to enjoy a bus-themed picture book read aloud. The excitement grew as the bus set off on a journey around Norwich, with children eagerly spotting landmarks during a game of bus bingo—shouting out, “That’s where I live!” and “My mum shops there!”

Mr. Bawtree from Norwich Primary Academy shared :“ The pupils loved their experience on the bus—especially sitting in the driver's seat. For many of our children, it was their first time on a bus!”

The children returned to school singing a joyful rendition of “The Wheels on the Bus” and had the chance to ask thoughtful questions like how to board a bus, what it takes to become a driver, and what happens in an emergency. Each child received a goodie bag and a discounted Day ticket to enjoy a family bus trip in the future.

Preparing for the Next Journey

The day also focused on helping Year 6 students prepare for greater independence as they transition to high school. During the Next Journey workshop, students learned how to:

  • Plan a journey using the Konectbus website

  • Check timetables and ticket prices

  • Locate their nearest bus stop

  • Understand how to travel safely and confidently and respect others whilst on board.

The interactive session encouraged students to plan a pretend journey to their future high schools and trips to the park, helping them feel more prepared and less reliant on car travel.

Empowering the Next Generation

Konectbus is proud to support local schools and communities through business encounters and initiatives like Generation Go, which empower young people with the knowledge and skills they need to travel independently and safely.

“Generation Go is about more than just buses—it’s about building confidence, independence, and a sense of adventure,” said Davina Langley, Head of Marketing at Konectbus
