Konectbus Brings the Storybus to Scarning Primary School

On Monday 28th April, Konectbus visited Scarning Primary School to take a group of Reception children on a special trip aboard the Storybus. Davina Langley (Head of Commercial and Marketing) and Ella Ramsey (Marketing Executive) brought a double-decker bus to the school, where they were greeted by a group of very excited children - some of whom had never been on a bus before.

The adventure began with Driver Steve issuing tickets to all our young passengers. The children then enjoyed a scenic ride around Scarning and Dereham, excitedly spotting their houses and familiar landmarks through the windows. One child enthusiastically shared, “I go to that shop with my mummy!”

The children had great fun playing a game of bus bingo, keeping their eyes peeled for red cars, people walking dogs, and wheelie bins.

Everyone gathered on the top deck to listen to a bus-themed story and take part in a Q&A session, where the children were eager to ask questions about buses and what it’s like to be a driver. The trip ended on a high note with an enthusiastic and interactive rendition of The Wheels on the Bus!

Before returning to school, the Konectbus team handed out stickers, activity packs, and timetables for the children to take home and share with their families. One teacher noted, “The children loved spotting familiar locations as we drove around the town.”

Engaging with the communities we serve is at the heart of the Konectbus ethos. These trips with local schools are a fantastic way to introduce children to the bus as a safe, accessible, and fun form of transport from a young age. By helping them feel confident about bus travel, we hope to encourage lifelong habits of sustainable travel. They might even inspire their parents to use the bus more often—or to plan a family day out by bus at the weekend or during the school holidays.

Mrs Sammacicci from Scarning Primary School said:

“Ella and Davina were so welcoming and lovely with the children. The children loved asking for a ticket and being given their own to take home. Some had never been on a bus before, so it was a truly wonderful experience for them. It was well thought through, giving all the children the chance to sit on the top deck for the story. The story itself was really lovely, and Steve the bus driver was fantastic during the Q&A session. Thank you for the little goodie bags you gave each child to take home—it was a wonderful trip.”
