Generation Go comes to City of Norwich School
2 years ago

On Friday 1st March, Konectbus delivered a Generation Go workshop to a group of Year 10 students at City of Norwich School on Eaton Road. This was the first opportunity for us to conduct a workshop with our new video, presentation and activity, which all went down very well with participants who are planning their work experience placements for later this month.
The workshop contains practical advice on how to use the bus independently and respectfully, and how to use the Konectbus app and website to plan journeys, track buses and buy tickets. Following the workshop, Konectbus is providing all participants with a free week’s anywhere ticket on the app to use for their placement. One pupil, who already has transport arranged for their placement, even said that they would use their ticket to travel to Dereham during the Easter holidays.

City of Norwich’s Careers Leader, Natalie Pentney, commented that ‘having the support in school to learn how to use the bus is brilliant and really useful for the students for work experience and college – to take the next steps in their independence’. These students were just about to begin secondary school when the Covid-19 pandemic hit, and admitted that even if they had used the bus with their parents beforehand, lockdowns had broken this habit for their families. It is therefore all the more important to build young people’s skills to travel independently so that they can embark on their next steps with confidence and enthusiasm.
