Routes 4 & 4A - Royal Norfolk Show - Wednesday 24th & Thursday 25th June 2026
The annual Royal Norfolk Show will take place on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th June. Buses on route 4 will be subject to the following alterations: We will continue to provide a full timetable on route 4 & 4A with additional X4 journeys complimenting the timetable providing 3 buses an hour between the Bus Station, Newmarket Road and the Showground. Buses will stop at the Showground adjacent to the King George VI gate in both directions. Due to expected congestion LONGWATER RETAIL PARK will not be served on both days. Between 14:30 and 19:30 Easton village becomes a one way traffic system and no Norwich bound buses will serve Easton village after 14:30. Passengers from Easton heading to Norwich are asked to board buses at the King George VI gate outside the showground.
Traffic levels are expected to be higher than usual and passengers should allow more time for their journeys. We will have bus controllers available at the Showground during the afternoon to assist passengers.
EXTRA BUSES for the Royal Norfolk Show - Wednesday 24th & Thursday 25th June 2026
Additional buses will be in operation on the two days of the Royal Norfolk Show. Route X4 will operate alongside the usual route 4 providing up to 3 departures an hour between Norwich Bus Station (STAND A), Newmarket Road (all stops) and the Showground with buses up to every 20 minutes returning towards Norwich with last buses from the Showground at 20:45 (Wednesday) and 17:45 (Thursday)
NEW for 2026 is route 400 which will, following passenger feedback, operate up to every 30 minutes between Thorpe Road (Norwich Rail Station), Harford Park & Ride and the showground. Buses return from the showground up to every 30 minutes until 19:45 (Wednesday) and 18:15 (Thursday). To ensure we have enough capacity the afternoon departures from the Showground on route 400 will also call at St Stephens Street in central Norwich. We will have bus controllers available at the Rail Station, Bus Station and Showground to assist passengers during the day.
PLEASE NOTE - Concessionary bus passes will not be valid on the X4 or 400 with a £2 special day ticket available for those with concessionary bus passes.
Full details of these routes are available on our website.
EASTON - forthcoming A47 upgrade work
We have been notified that further A47 upgrade work, starting in July, will result in road closures and access restrictions at Easton. Buses on route 4 and Easton College buses 4A & 8C will continue to serve Easton, albeit route 4 will be diverted within the village, details of which will be posted shortly. Please be assured a bus service, at the same level as provided now, will be in operation and we thank you in advance of your understanding and patience whilst final details are confirmed.
NEWMARKET ROAD - potential closure from 19:00 tonight
We are not sure if this closure will happen due to the warm weather - if the road is open then buses will operate normal route. Please track your bus.
Newmarket Road may be closed this evening to enable surface dressing works to take place, if so the following diversions will be in place on services 4, X4 & 8.
SERVICE 4 will operate via South Park Avenue & Bluebell Road, and will be unable to serve the above stops.
SERVICE X4 (towards Showground) will operate via South Park Avenue then either via the University (non-stop) or via Thickthorn depending on traffic conditions. They will not be able to serve Elveden Close.
SERVICE X4 (towards Norwich) will continue to operate via Cringleford Interchange, but will then operate via Eaton, Bluebell Road & South Park Avenue and will consequently be unable to serve Elveden Close.
SERVICE 8 (in both directions) will operate via Bluebell Road, South Park Avenue, then either via the University (non-stop) or Thickthorn depending on traffic conditions. Elveden Close will not be served on affected journeys.
We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause, and appreciate your patience during the uncertainty caused by the current hot weather.
