There’s plenty of activities in Norfolk that you can access by bus. And if you’re looking for things to do with kids, fear not, there are loads of indoor and activities across Norfolk for the whole family!

Indoor Family Activities

Anyone with a love of puzzles and mysteries will be delighted to hear about Puzzlescape escape rooms in Dereham. With rooms available for 2-7 players, you can gather your friends or family and rally together to solve mysteries, crack codes, and escape in time! A thrilling and nail-biting activity with different themes and game styles, head to Dereham for an escape room experience to remember.

If you haven’t been to Wroxham Barns then you’re missing out! The perfect family day out, those with an interest in animals and agriculture can learn a lot from this fantastic visitor attraction. At the Junior Farm & Fun Park, your little ones can have fun with sand play, Go Karts, and a pirate ship, before meeting all of the animals. Goats, sheep, alpacas, pigs and more are at the Junior Farm, making for an exciting experience for kids. And for the adults you’ll be able to browse the shops for lovely local treats, clothing, and ceramics. 

A family favourite activity in Norfolk is BeWILDerwood famously home to the world of Twiggles & Boggles, and is the ideal place for creative children and kids who love the outdoors. Activities include storytelling, face painting, crafts, and den building as well as enchanted boat rides. Exploring Norfolk and the Broads 

The Norfolk Broads are one of the most iconic landscapes East Anglia has to offer, attracting thousands of visitors to the region every year. For those who haven't yet experienced the beauty of the broads, you can enjoy boat trips from Barnes Brinkcraft or even hop on a paddle steamer at Wroxham and explore the broads with a guided tour.

Norfolk Museums

Enthusiasts of heritage and history will be happy to know that there are many museums around Norfolk with rich culture and stories to explore.

Swaffham museum focuses on social history in Norfolk from the Stone Age until modern times, and has very low entry fees, making for an educational and affordable trip out. With several interesting collections to browse, it’s definitely worth the visit.

The Norfolk Broads are beautiful expansive lands, and there’s plenty going on to learn about them. If you head to the Stalham Museum of the Broads you can see nearly 6,000 items in the collection. What’s more, they run boat trips on electric and steam boats, so you can experience the Broads properly!

If you head to Wroxham, you’ll be treated to the largest indoor modelling attraction in the UK. This fabulous collection of mini worlds has intricately designed model railway systems based on both UK and international train model layouts.

Wymondham is a beautiful market town and if you take the time to visit you may come across the wonderful museums for arts and heritage. The Wymondham Art Centre is currently preparing to publish their 2023 programme, so be sure to check their website for updates. Very much open is the Wymondham Heritage Museum, a passion project organised by the Wymondham Heritage Society with the interest of preserving a piece of local history. With plenty of exhibits to explore, this former prison building has heaps of tales of Norfolk’s past to keep you there for hours!

Norfolk Parks & Stately Homes

Norfolk is home to some gorgeous green spaces and stunning trail walks that give you an excuse to go out and get some fresh air. Some lovely parks are situated all over the county, with big events on too!

Earlham park

Earlham park in Norwich is perhaps best known for its big events, with festivals, food, music, and entertainment on offer throughout the year. The Foodies Festival is a popular one, with fabulous music acts accompanying the fantastic food vendors to keep you amused and full up!

Bowthorpe Park

This local greenspace is great for kids, as you can play sports such as basketball, tennis, and football if you book out courts. For ardent welly walkers, the Bowthorpe Southern park is a lovely path where you can meet some sweet horse friends along the way.

Loch Neaton

The most beautiful site in Watton, Loch Neaton is a stunning body of water with activities going on around it to boot. The weekly Park Run is a well-attended event, and the location also offers fishing permits to spend the season angling to your heart’s content.

Hoveton Hall Gardens

At Hoveton Hall Estate, there are a range of stunning walks and gardens to meander and enjoy. Perfect for when the weather is warmer, the grounds have such beautiful areas as the Spider Garden, The Glass House, and The Woodland Walk. For those who love being surrounded by nature and flowers, the enchanting gardens of Hoveton Hall could become your new favourite place!

Catton Park

Relatively close to Norwich, Catton Park is a great site for a walk, with the tranquil landscape making for the perfect backdrop for a relaxed stroll. You can even choose to walk the Sculpture Trail and tick off the wooden woodland animals you spot.

Norfolk Showground

Head on down to the Norfolk showground for some fabulous events, fairs, and shows! With a wide variety of things on, there’s activities for families, festivals for friends, and races for hobby athletes.
