Dereham Church Infant School

The children of Dereham Church Infant School were visited not once, but twice last week by the Konectbus Story Bus, which delivered a series of fun and educational trips as part of their Generation Go initiative.

Generation Go aims to help children discover the enjoyment of travelling by bus while reducing any anxieties they may have.

The team arrived at the school with a double-decker bus, where they were greeted by very excited children - some of whom had never been on a bus before.

The adventures began with Driver Rob issuing tickets to all the young passengers. The children then enjoyed a scenic ride around Dereham and Swanton Morley, excitedly spotting their houses and familiar landmarks through the windows.

One child enthusiastically shared, “I go to that park!”

The children had great fun playing a game of bus bingo, keeping their eyes peeled for green cars, dog walkers, and wheelie bins. Once back at the school, everyone gathered on the lower deck to listen to a bus-themed story and take part in a Q&A session. The children were eager to ask questions about buses and what it’s like to be a driver. The trip ended on a high note with an enthusiastic and interactive rendition of The Wheels on the Bus!

“Engaging with the communities we serve is at the heart of the Konectbus ethos. These trips with local schools are a fantastic way to introduce children to the bus as a safe, accessible, and fun form of transport from a young age. By helping them feel confident about bus travel, we hope to encourage lifelong habits of sustainable travel. They might even inspire their parents to use the bus more often - or to plan a family day out by bus at the weekend or during the school holidays,” said Ella Ramsey, Marketing Executive for Konectbus.

Mrs Cole, Headteacher at Dereham Church Infant School, said:
"This was a wonderful, memorable first-hand experience for all of our children, which they thoroughly enjoyed; thank you!"
