Norwich Park & Ride Update
You may have seen in the news that starting in April 2025, the operation of Norwich Park and Ride services, currently running from five locations on the outskirts of Norwich City Centre, will transition from Konectbus to a dual operation by First Eastern Counties and Central Connect Transport Ltd.
Rupert Cox, Managing Director of Go East Anglia/Konectbus, commented:
“While we are deeply disappointed not to have retained the Norwich Park and Ride contract, we take great pride in our nine-year legacy of providing thousands of visitors, commuters, and students with a sustainable and affordable way to reach the city centre."
Konectbus has faced challenges due to the COVID-19 lockdown's impact on local bus services, but have worked hard to rebuild passenger numbers across the county. Their efforts to attract hybrid commuters back to their city-based offices by bus were bolstered by the government’s Bus Service Improvement Fund, which helped support reduced fare initiatives. Konectbus wish the new operators every success in advancing the service.
“Having only just received the outcome of the retender, we want to assure everyone that there are no plans for redundancies or job losses among our valued colleagues. This transition presents an opportunity to review and optimise our current Konectbus network. Whilst this transition occurs, we’re excited to continue to encourage customers to ‘Get In The Fast Lane’ to the city centre on a Norwich Park and Ride bus, especially as families enjoy the upcoming half-term break and prepare for the festive season ahead.”
“We’d like to extend our thanks to all of our customers for their support of the Park and Ride service over the past nine years. It has been a privilege for the whole Konectbus team to have provided a sustainable, and affordable way to access Norwich City Centre. As we transition into this next chapter, we remain committed to delivering the best possible service, and sincerely thank you for the opportunity to be part of your daily journeys.”
