Konectbus Partners with Guide Dogs UK to Enhance Accessibility on its Buses
1 week ago

We’ve teamed up with the charity Guide Dogs UK to help improve accessibility for those travelling on public transport.
As part of this partnership, we’re offering training sessions at our depots and free bus travel for puppy trainers to support their guide dog familiarisation programme.
We’ve also launched Access All Routes – our latest initiative aimed at making our services more accessible for everyone.
We’re proud to be working with Guide Dogs UK to make travel easier for people who are blind or partially sighted. This partnership is part of our ongoing commitment to creating a more inclusive and accessible transport experience for all our passengers.
Last week, our Dereham depot welcomed five very excited puppies as part of their training. The puppies and their handlers boarded one of our buses to get used to the sounds, smells, and environment, learning how to move around safely and confidently.

We know just how important guide dogs are in helping people who are blind or partially sighted live independently. There are over 4,500 working guide dog partnerships across the UK – and every one of those dogs has gone through rigorous training to be able to guide their handler safely and confidently. That’s why, as part of our partnership, we’re thrilled to offer free bus travel for guide dog puppies and their trainers.
Jay Baker, Puppy Development Advisor for the area, said:
We would like to say a big thank you to Konectbus for supporting us with this training session. It is important that our pups learn to travel calmly and confidently on different modes of transport, so they are well-prepared for when they hopefully become working guide dogs. Being able to practise bus travel, with support from Konectbus, has been a great training experience for both our pups, and volunteer Puppy Raisers.
Davina Langley, our Head of Marketing and Communications, said:
This collaboration shows our commitment to making travel easy and independent for everyone and we have launched our new initiative ‘Access All Routes’ to make every journey accessible. This initiative will guide future developments of our network and on-bus facilities, alongside ensuring that our drivers are provided with the information to support the varying needs of all their passengers.
