Parks and gardens

Norwich has plenty of greenspace to stroll when the sun is out, and you can head to a park without having to stray too far from the city.

Right at your feet in the city centre is Chapelfield Gardens, the perfect place to take a picnic and enjoy a bit of peace outside of the bustle. Enjoy the view of the bandstand and take the kids to the play area for a run around. You also have the option of snacks from the food stand if you get peckish!

The Plantation Gardens are also a short walk from the centre, providing a tranquil haven that you won’t believe is so close to the city. This green paradise is a Grade II English Heritage garden that has been nestled in Norwich for over a century. Frolic amongst the flowers and feast your eyes on the beautiful fountain, with £2 asked per adult for the honesty box or under 16s with an adult free.

Venture slightly outside of the centre and you will find Waterloo Park, a stunning space with a Children’s Splash Pad too! While you’re there, grab a bite to eat at The Feed Cafe for a snack that gives back to a good cause! If you’re using Konectbus, be aware that there will be a 5-10 minute walk to the park with routes 35 and 501.

Another beautiful park with fantastic features is Eaton Park, a Norwich staple with its fantastic dome overlooking the boat pond. The park also has a cafe, rose garden, skate park, lily pond, and hosts the Parkrun every Saturday. Use Route A to get to this glorious greenspace.

Get the best view of the city at Mousehold Heath! Venture up to this serene patch of woodland to look over the city landscape in all its glory, and maybe even see some wildlife on the trail. Use routes 11B and the City 5 bus to get you started!
